Il Lombardia closes the Monument calendar every October, weaving through the hills above Lake Como as the leaves turn — which is exactly why riders and fans have called it the Race of the Falling Leaves for generations. The Madonna del Ghisallo climb, the narrow lakeside roads, the sense that this is the last real test of the season — it's a race built on scenery and suffering in equal measure. This minimalist design is independently created and inspired by Lombardia rather than licensed by it. For people who'd rather watch one more race than start their off-season early.
